DAY 4 — The truth of Jesus Christ outweighed any calamity the world could bring. Pray that we would be unapologetic about sharing the good news of Jesus, even if it means pain and trial.

ACTS 5:27-32

“And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us.” But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

We can host the largest event Portland has ever seen, launch the trendiest church, or start a really cool movement, but it all means nothing if Jesus Christ is not at the center. As we begin our pursuit of the Lord in the build-up towards the PDX Fest, re-launch, and beyond, our lives must be in complete submission to the will of God. This first week should inform all of our prayers and work in August. Ask God to reveal what it is you are still hanging onto that is not from Him. Surrender the desires of your heart to Jesus so that he can lead you into more abundant life. Ultimately, we are granted the privilege to pick up our crosses and follow Jesus into a new life. Let's step boldly into what the Lord is doing in Portland that He may increase and we would decrease. Pray that the Lord’s will be done over our will.

  1. Pray the Scripture

    • First, Read the Scripture aloud and pray the exact words back to God. Second, go back through it verse by verse, and in your own words pray to God based on the words in Scripture. Third, take notes of what God revealed to you in that time.

  2. Value Silence

    • Sometimes we may run out of words to say, or maybe you are someone that cannot stop talking to God. In either case, we need to grow comfortable with sitting and growing quiet to hear from the Lord. Remember to rest in God’s presence so that you can hear Him when he speaks to you.

  3. Take Notes

    • In your time of prayer, write down what is you are praying for so that you can look back to see what God did. Also, write down what God is revealing to you. We like to think we will remember everything, but humans are pretty forgetful beings.
